July 2008 in NYC

July in New York is all about independence – because July4th is, of course, Independence Day, the day that the whole of the US celebrates emancipation from the UK. And New York being New York, they celebrate bigger and better than anyone. Everyone's up for a party and those in the know find a friend with a penthouse overlooking the river for a perfect view of department store, Macy's spectacular firework display.
The next day, single girls with an eye for a buff boy will be heading down to the Hudson River to watch hardy beefcakes take on the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim – 28.5 miles in less than clean waters. If you fancy giving it a go yourself, don't forget some new Maybelline SuperStay dual ended lip colour which lasts a solid 18 hours – well you want your lips to look good don'tcha?
While we're on the subject of swimming, all the savviest girls are heading to Malia Mills, the New York swimwear boutique that has been kitting out the ladies of the Big Apple (be they apples, pears or hourglasses) for nearly 15 years. They're renowned for their perfectly fitting bikinis and one pieces – there's no better place to start shopping for your summer break.
